Joseph Shneyderman

I'm a 4th year student at Northeastern University pursuing my Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

As a student and engineer I am very passionate about learning and love using technology to solve problems around me. I love to be involved and experience all parts of the engineering process from design to manufacturing and assembly. My goals as a professional engineer are to make meaningful contributions to large projects. The robotics, aerospace and automotive industries are what intrigue me the most.

In my time at Northeastern, I have completed 1 internship and 2 co-ops. Most recently at Specter Aerospace as a propulsion engineer co-op where I assisted in the research and development of novel flight technologies.

I am seeking a full time position in systems or structural engineering. I hope to join a small team and contribute to a growing project. I enjoy the startup environment and the responsibilities that come along with it.

In my free time I like hiking the national parks (Zion, Glacier, and Gaudalupe are the best), running, watching sports (Formula 1 and football are my favorite) and listening to music.

Northeastern Electric Racing Drivetrain

Designed test pieces for our differential case incorporating complex geometry to test the robustness and effectiveness of different coatings to ensure proper sealing of our differential.

Northeastern Electric Racing

Oversaw and contributed to the research, design and manufacturing of the brakes, steering and suspension systems for a formula style electric racecar built to compete under FSAE regulations.

Indigo Technologies Drawings

Fixed an Audi from a non-running state to a street legal car. Replaced motor and other failing components of the vehicle. Worked with a friend to repair the vehicle with self-learned knowledge without the assistance of a professional mechanic.

Robot

Designed and built a robot using Arduino to take an order, follow a line and deliver food to customers, essentially a robotic waiter for restaurants.

New Project

Coming soon. Working on more cool things to add. Reach out to me if you want to work on something together.

Experience

Systems Engineering

Specter Aerospace - Propulsion/Systems/Structural Co-Op

July 2023 - Present

Designed and manufactured components to aid the development of novel hypersonic technologies
Performed high level structural analysis on multiple test frames to ensure favorable characterstics for optimal data collection and user friendly operation
Assisted in the design and creation of a new test facility to help research and develop novel flight technologies

Mechanical Design

Indigo Technologies - Mechanical Design Co-Op

June 2022 - December 2022

Collaborated with a group of 3 engineers to redesign custom motor components to allow for more efficient and cost-effective production while also making the system more robust
Designed, manufactured, and ran a modular test rig for components within a coolant system to further characterize and validate specific parts
Modified an existing static display stand of the Indigo Smart Wheel to display the full range of dynamic functionality of the system

Data Collection Specialist

DEKA R&D Kiwi Project - Internship

May 2021 - March 2022

Worked on a team to collect and curate data for machine learning.
Helped assemble testing machines to gather data and test hardware.
Used Python to automate tasks.
